Christmas Backpacks for Children in Appalachia

SCF will be collecting the month of October for Backpacks for Appalachia.
SBC of Virginia is part of a nationwide effort to provide Christmas Backpacks for impoverished children in Appalachia. Christmas Backpacks for Appalachia is designed to help you show the love of Christ to these children and youth. The national goal is 65,000 backpacks. The SBCV goal is 3,000 backpacks delivered to the Appalachian children in need this December. 
Central Appalachia includes 100 of the poorest counties in America in the 10-state region served by the Appalachian Regional Ministry (ARM). A new backpack filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, candy, etc. for Christmas is so exciting for boys and girls! ARM will share the Gospel and these gifts of love with children living in poverty throughout Appalachia this Christmas. 
There are two ways you can help, you can either donate items for backpacks or you can fill a backpack yourself. We will have backpacks available if you would like to fill a backpack. 
Each zippered backpack should contain at least one item from each category below:
School supplies – crayons, notebook paper, pencils, pens, folders, erasers, rulers, coloring books, ect.
Clothing – small items of NEW clothing such as winter hats, gloves, socks, underwear, ect.
Food – small pop-top canned food such as ravioli, tuna, beef stew, vegetables, fruit, ect.
Toy – at least one NEW, age-appropriate non-breakable toy cars, legos, balls, dolls, stuffed animal, toys that light up (include extra batteries), ect.
Hygiene Items – Hygiene items including toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, brush or comb, shampoo, ect.
Bible – A children’s Bible or New Testament
Candy – Fresh, wrapped candy
